The Sewing Machine Monologues

One of the drawbacks to taking up machine sewing as a hobby is the cost of the machine. Sometimes it’s possible to borrow a machine, but sometimes you need to purchase a machine before even getting started. Whether it’s your first, second or fifteenth machine, it can be a nerve-wracking decision!

We’ve decided to make it a little easier by asking some of our favorite bloggers what they think (what they really, honestly think) about their sewing machines.

Introducing the Sewing Machine Monologues.

Each Thursday, we’ll have a blogger share what they like and don’t like about their current machine. The machines will range from industrial machines to sergers to starter machines. Once we are done with the series you will have a better idea of what kind of machine would be the best fit for you. Want to get involved? Do you love or hate your machine? Tell us all about it in the comments!

Love my Baby Lock Elizabeth. I got it just as I was starting chemo & even I, with my foggy chemo-brain could figure it out. I love the built in stitches, automatic needle threaders, & smoothness of stitching. I have spent less time fiddling with my machine while sewing than with any other machine I have owned. I didn’t want a machine that I had to spend hours programming before I could start a project. I took a course in free motion embroidery years ago, find it really relaxing & will do that rather than fiddle with a computerized machine before I can get anything done.

Marilyn, Thank you for letting us know about your Babylock– sometimes simple features are the best. Best of luck with your fight with cancer, and mad props for sewing through it to boot.
